Executive Members

Te Kaunihera O Nga Neehi Maori Executive Committee is comprised of talented individuals dedicated to growing a successful organisation for the benefit of all Maori.

 

 

 

Hineroa Hakiaha
Currently the newly elected president of Te Kaunihera O Nga Neehi Maori. Ngati Awa/Tuhoe oku iwi

Hineroa works for Te Whare Wananga O Awanuiarangi as the Programme Manager for Te Ohanga Mataora Paetahi - Bachelor of Health Sciences Maori (Nursing) and she is the portfolio holder for the Annual Maori Student Nurses Hui.

Puti O'Brien
Patroness of TE KAUNIHERA and of Ngati Awa. A founding member of TE KAUNIHERA and a leader for Maori in the nursing profession. Aunty Puti remains active today in the health sector and continues on a local scale to deliver services for Kaumatua and Kuia and works nationally and internationally by presenting and giving talks on key initiatives for better Maori health gains such as the recent Sudden Infant Death conference in Italy in August 2002.

Mere Balzer
Currently an Executive Member and  the immediate past president. Mere is an active member of the Waikato Branch of TE KAUNIHERA.

Currently the CEO of Te Runanga O Kirikiriroa the urban Maori Pantribal Development Organisation in Hamilton delivering a wide range of services in the Health, Social Services and education sectors.

Elizabeth Mitchelson
Currently an Executive Member and a past president. Liz is an active member of the Auckland Branch of TE KAUNIHERA.

Liz is currently researching the impact of strokes on Maori and is located in the Medical School Auckland. She has been a tutor of Kawa Whakaruruhau in the Nursing Studies department at Uni-tech Auckland for many years.

Ngaire Whata
Currently an Executive Member and a Past President. No Ngati Kahu me Te Arawa.

Ngaire is also the chairperson of Nga Ngaru Hauora O Aotearoa and a active member of the Waiariki Branch of Te Kaunihera. 

Dave Taylor
An Executive Member Dave works as a rural nurse in the Whanganui region that covers both sides of the Whanganui awa. He holds clinics at five different sites including two marae venues, and do home visits to the more remote homes especially to service our kaumatua. At present as well as his full time mahi, Dave is also completing his masters of nursing with an aim to advance to Nurse Practioner with prescribing rights.

Tania Pompallier
Currently an Executive Committee Member, a Life Member and an active member of the Tamaki Makau Rau Branch of Te Kaunihera.
Tania was born and raised in Auckland and is of Ngati Whatua, Ngati Ruanui, Ngati Porou and Ngati Kahungunu descent mixed with Yugoslavian and European ancestry.
